Pixel Lineage Oni Guide

Oni is one of three Fist advanced classes in Pixel Lineage. Learn how the Dungeon Trainer shrine works, how to compare branches, and when to commit.

Overview

Pixel Lineage is a fast turn-based roguelike RPG on Roblox: you create a class-based hero, travel branching adventure paths solo or with a party of up to four, and time attack and defense prompts on every turn. Class is the decision that shapes everything after it, and the Pixel Lineage Oni branch draws attention because it is reachable only through Fist — not through Warrior, Mage, or any other starting class. If you are weighing the Pixel Lineage Oni path against Monk and Brawler, here is what the game actually supports, how the shrine choice works, and how to prepare so you do not sink a run into a class you will not enjoy.

What the Pixel Lineage Oni Class Actually Is

Oni is an advanced class. It is not a race, and it is not something you can pick at hero creation. Fist is one of six base classes you choose when you build a hero, and Oni is one of the three branches that Fist can grow into.

Base ClassAvailable Advanced Branches
WarriorBerserk, Sentinel, Greatsword
ThiefRogue, Assassin, Beast Tamer
MageCleric, Hexer, Summoner
FistMonk, Brawler, Oni
BardMinstrel, Siren, Pianist
ArcherRanger, Deadeye, Corsair

Branch lists are locked to the base class. A Mage hero is never offered Oni at the shrine, and a Warrior cannot convert into the Fist line later — so the first real step toward the Pixel Lineage Oni build happens at hero creation, not during Act 2.

Compare Oni's current skills and damage values in the class preview at the shrine before committing. Use the class structure and progression steps below to prepare for that choice.

How Fist Plays Before You Branch

Fist is built for focused physical damage. Flurry rolls four hits separately, which rewards steady timing over one big swing, and Iron Fists strengthens unarmed and Fist moves. That kit carries you until the Trainer shrine appears.

In early-run rankings that weigh survival tools, recovery options, Energy demands, and timing complexity, Fist lands around the middle of the pack. Warrior earns the strongest marks for a forgiving opening, Bard for healing, and Archer for direct offense. Those grades describe a first solo Normal clear — they are not an endgame verdict on Oni, and they say nothing about how a branch performs in a party.

Fist vs. the Other Base Classes

If Oni is your goal, Fist is your starting point. Compare the six options by their earliest tools before you commit to a class line.

Base ClassDistinctive Early ToolsPick It When
WarriorReinforced adds 50% Defense against the first direct hit; Shoulder Bash adds controlYou are still learning defense timing; save Taunt for hits you can safely absorb
BardMending Melody supplies healing; Encore refunds one Energy when you healRecoverable chip damage keeps ending your runs — heal early
ArcherPower Shot ignores 30% Defense on a simple one-Energy planYou want direct offense with minimal setup
FistFlurry rolls four separate hits; Iron Fists boosts unarmed and Fist movesYou want physical damage now and the Pixel Lineage Oni branch later
MageScroll spells add tactical options, but Guard costs Energy and base health is lowYou enjoy saving for spells and budgeting defense first
ThiefDagger skills favor critical-hit offense over built-in recoveryDagger timing appeals and you accept a thinner safety net

Race and talent rolls sit outside the class system entirely, so a hero can be rerolled on race without disturbing the class plan you are working toward.

How to Reach the Dungeon Trainer and Unlock the Pixel Lineage Oni Branch

The branch choice happens at the Dungeon Trainer Shrine, and the Trainer appears on a path card while you work through Dungeon Act 2. Plan the route, not a trip around the castle.

StepWhat to DoWhy It Matters
1Start an adventure and read the three path cards between floorsThe Trainer card shows up in Dungeon Act 2
2If the Trainer card has not appeared, keep playing that adventureThe shrine is not something you find by searching castle buildings
3Tell your party your class goal before the path voteThe route is shared, and one rushed pick affects everyone
4At the shrine, compare only your three valid kitsAnother base class's branches are never offered to you
5Accept the choice only when the opening move also fitsThe selection is permanent for that hero

Once the branch is locked in, your Super moves arrive on a fixed schedule.

Super MoveUnlock Timing
First moveImmediately after choosing the branch
Second moveLevel 10
Third moveLevel 14

Judge a branch by its first move. A skill that unlocks at level 14 cannot solve the fight in front of you at level 6, so if the immediate tool does not fit your Energy plan, the class will feel thin for a long stretch.

From Super Class to Ultra: What the Oni Investment Costs

Evolving a Super class into an Ultra class requires sigils, which can drop from the fifth act and above. Sigils do not all come from the same place — some are more likely to appear from certain bosses than others. Tomes unlock the remaining Ultra class skills, and they are hard to come by.

Because that is a long climb, check what the matching Ultra branch actually offers before you pour gold and whetstones into a piece of gear. A build that feels complete at the Super stage can behave very differently once an Ultra move joins the rotation.

Building a Fist Run That Supports a Pixel Lineage Oni Hero

Difficulty multiplies enemy strength and rewards at the same time, so raise it deliberately rather than for the payout.

SettingEnemy HPEnemy PowerRewards
Normal1×1×1×
Hard1.25×1.18×1.8×
Nightmare1.4×1.25×2.8×
  • Stay on Normal while Camp healing keeps rescuing the run. Extra enemy power makes the same recovery problem more expensive.
  • Move to Hard when a full Normal road feels comfortable and you can name what killed a failed attempt.
  • Treat Nightmare as a party decision. Higher enemy durability extends your exposure to hostile turns, and tougher prompts punish sloppy defense.

A battle loss consumes a hero life, and each hero starts with three. Early runs are a bad place to gamble your last one — if a hero is down to a single life, moving its gear to a fresh character is safer than risking the whole kit.

Honing, Gold, and the Castle Services Worth Paying For

Honing is where a lot of early gold disappears, and the math is unforgiving.

Progress StageSuccess Chance
First attempts95%, 90%, 80%, 70%
Later attempts60%, 50%, 42%, 34%, 27%, 20%
Past +5A failed attempt has a 50% chance to lower the piece one level

High odds still permit failure, and matching whetstones are consumed alongside gold. Set a budget before you start, keep repair money in reserve for the Blacksmith, and stop chasing a loss. Repairing the Blacksmith costs 150 gold, and a class-compatible piece with a full armor set is usually worth more than one risky plus level.

Before you leave the castle, claim what is free. Starter bundles hand out gold, Knowledge, potions, race and talent spins, and whetstones — open the Merchant's redeem codes option and check each code’s expiry before redeeming it.

One more habit worth building early: learn the timing prompts on a low-stakes run rather than on a boss attempt. Each class attacks differently, and how attack and defense prompts work decides whether your damage lands or your hero eats the counter.

FAQ

Is Oni a race or a class in Pixel Lineage? Oni is a class. It is one of three advanced branches of the Fist base class, alongside Monk and Brawler. Races and talents are separate rolls made at hero creation, and they can be rerolled with spins from code bundles.

Can a Warrior or Mage switch to the Pixel Lineage Oni branch later? No. The Trainer shrine offers only the branches of the base class you chose at hero creation. If Oni is your target, start Fist.

Where exactly does the branch choice happen? At the Dungeon Trainer Shrine, reachable through a path card during Dungeon Act 2. If the card has not appeared yet, continue that adventure instead of hunting through castle buildings. The choice is permanent for that hero.

What do I need to take Oni past the Super class stage? Sigils to evolve into the Ultra class, which can drop from the fifth act and above, plus tomes for the remaining Ultra skills. Those are long-term goals, so build a survival plan on Normal first and let the branch grow with your gear.
